Jeffrey Tarinelli: A Tattooed Life.
A little about me-
Originally from Connecticut, I moved to Oregon in 2000 and have been here ever since. In 2011, after 18 years of professional tattooing and 10 years of co-owning and operating Oddball Studios in Portland, I made the decision to sell everything and leave home. I back-packed from the Mexican Yucatan peninsula to the Peruvian Amazon and, after reaching the Amazon, lived for several months with the Shipibo-Conibo tribe. I studied their famous patterns, shown to them in visions with the ceremonial use of the psychedelic brew Ayahuasca, and I personally participated in 20 ceremonies.
In 2012 I also traveled to the Sacred Valley in the south of Peru to live, work and further explore the country's culture and history; returning home to Portland in 2013.
My art style could best be described as indigenous inspired psychedelic fusion. I specialize in Polynesian and Native American blackwork tattoos, and find influence in indigenous cultures and art from all over the world. In my own art my passion lays in working primarily with black ink and the bodies natural curves and lines; the wearer and ink fuse together as active parts of the design as a whole. I am happy to do specific traditional styles as well as my own fusion brought to me by 20 years of studying and admiring these art forms in human development.
